ST. CROIX — An 18-year-old man who the VIPD said shot six people during an incident in March was released on bail after his arrest on Monday, according to court records.

On Friday, Devonte George made a court appearance where probable cause was determined to support all charges against him, including first-degree assault with intent to commit murder, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Judge Ernest Morris concluded George's advice of rights hearing by allowing him to post 10 percent of his $75,000 bail, with the remainder serving as an unsecured bond. As part of his bail conditions, George is to stay with his third-party custodian under house arrest with 24-hour electronic monitoring, among other restrictions.

George's subsequent court appearance is slated for November 15.

In related news, the Virgin Islands Police Department has released the image of another suspect, Everton Rutherford, who is believed to be connected to the March 4 mass shooting. Standing at 5’10”, Rutherford is about 200 pounds, with dark skin and dreadlocks. He is wanted for the unauthorized possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The public is urged to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau via their tipline (340 778-4950), or reach out to Crime Stoppers USVI, should they spot Rutherford.
