16-Year-Old Boy Shot Dead, 9-Year-Old Girl Child Injured During Drive-by Shooting in Kennedy Housing Community

ST. CROIX – A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed early Sunday morning during a drive-by shooting at the John F. Kennedy Terrace housing community, the Consortium has learned, information that was corroborated by V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima.

According to Mr. Derima, at about 12:21 a.m. Sunday the 911 Emergency Call Center received reports of shots fired and a man down at JFK in the vicinity of Building 28. Officers traveled to the area and found an unresponsive Black male with gunshot wounds, and it was determined that the victim did not have any vital signs.

A 9-year-old girl who was in a nearby apartment was also reportedly grazed by a bullet during the incident, Mr. Derima said.

The deceased victim was identified as 16-year-old Kimani Perdomo of JFK Terrace.

Sunday's homicide carried the territory's total for 2021 to 20: Seventeen on St. Croix, two on St. Thomas and one on St. John.
