The V.I. Department of Planning and Natural Resources has announced the launch of its new e-permitting system, Municity, set to go live on Monday, September 30th.
The platform is designed to streamline the permitting process, offering a more efficient and accessible solution for applicants throughout the territory, DPNR said.
Municity aims to simplify the application process by providing a user-friendly online interface where users can submit, track, and manage their permit applications. The introduction of this system is part of DPNR’s broader initiative to enhance customer service and improve the overall experience for residents and businesses in the Virgin Islands, according to the release.
To ensure the community is well-prepared to utilize Municity, DPNR said it will be hosting a series of training sessions across the territory. These sessions are designed to give users hands-on experience with the new system and to address any questions or concerns. The training schedule is as follows:
- St. Croix: Florence Williams Public Library, from 10 AM to 12 PM on September 9 and 11.
- St. Thomas: DPNR’s Conference Room at Tutu Park Mall, from 10 AM to 12 PM on September 16 and 18.
- St. John: Julius E. Sprauve School, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM on September 17.
DPRN Commissioner Jean-Pierre Oriol emphasized the importance of these sessions, encouraging all interested parties to attend. “These training sessions are designed to provide hands-on experience with the new system and answer any questions users may have. We encourage all interested parties to attend, walk with your laptops, and learn how Municity can simplify your permitting needs,” he said.
