The Division of Personnel and the VI Bureau of Corrections have announced the upcoming Correction Officer Entrance Examination to be held territory-wide. This event, which aims to recruit qualified individuals into the correctional workforce, will take place between Monday, August 28, and Thursday, August 31, 2023.
Registration for the written examination will begin on Monday, July 24, 2023, and conclude on Friday, August 4, 2023. Interested applicants are encouraged to complete the application package available online at www.dopusvi.org before the deadline on August 4, 2023.
To be eligible for application, candidates must meet several criteria. Applicants must be at least 20 years old but not older than 46. They must possess a high school diploma or an equivalent certification from an accredited institution and hold a Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
In addition to these basic requirements, applicants will need to pass a series of tests and evaluations. These include a Civil Service online examination, a physical agility test, a psychological exam, an oral board interview, and a comprehensive background check.
However, certain applicants will be exempt from sitting the written examination while still being required to fulfill all other criteria. This includes those holding a degree in any field of study (Associate and above) from an accredited institution, honorably discharged veterans from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces (DD214), and Certified Correction Officers from any U.S. jurisdiction correctional facility in good standing.
