ST. JOHN — On Friday at around 11:07 a.m. the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to the Westin Resort harbor in reference to an explosion aboard a vessel, announced V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima Saturday.

According to the news release, police officers and Virgin Islands Fire Service personnel traveled to the vessel, the Carpe Aura, with the assistance of the Westin Resort ferry crew. Two men onboard the vessel were injured and transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance for treatment of various injuries, ranging from broken bones, lacerations, and burns. Both men were listed in stable condition, Mr. Derima said.

This incident is currently under investigation by the VIPD and the Virgin Islands Fire Service.
