ST. CROIX — V.I.P.D. officers and other emergency personnel found the body of a Caucasian male floating in the seawater at the Christiansted Wharf Thursday night, police spokesman Toby Derima has confirmed.

The 911 Emergency Call Center was notified of the incident at about 9:09 p.m., Mr. Derima said. First responders, including emergency medical technicians on the scene examined the body and found no vital signs. 

Mr. Derima said an investigation into the matter would be launched and that the identity of the victim was being withheld pending next of kin notification.

He said there appeared to be no sign of foul play, however it was too early to make a determination. Detectives are asking anyone who knows anything about this incident to call 911, the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950, or send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here
