Police Arrest Four, Including Minor, In 'Clean Sweep' Operation

ST. CROIX -- The Criminal Investigation Bureau and Special Operation Bureau on Friday conducted what has been dubbed by the V.I.P.D. as Operation Clean Sweep, arresting four individuals -- including a 17-year-old minor -- on assault, gun possession, attempted murder and other charges.

According to a press release V.I.P.D. issued late Friday, the following arrests were made:

Elroy Tonge, 20, who is presently detained at the Bureau of Corrections, was arrested for unauthorized possession of a firearm, with bail set at $25,000 by a Superior Court magistrate. Unable to post bail in the aforementioned amount, Mr. Tonge was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advise-of-rights hearing.

Kareem D. Ambrose, 38, of Frederiksted was arrested for third-degree assault in relation to an incident that occurred at the Croixville Housing Community's parking lot on June 6, 2016.

Unable to make by of $75,000, Mr. Ambrose was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advise-of-rights hearing.

And Rashede Emanuel, 35, was arrested for first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of ammunition, failure to report firearms obtained outside or brought into the U.S. Virgin Islands, and discharging or aiming a firearm. Mr. Emanuel's charges were tied to an incident that occurred in Estate Glynn on July 6, 2016.

Unable to make bail of $125,000, Mr. Emanuel was remaded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
