The announcement was made Tuesday by UVI Provost Dr. Camille McKayle.

Dr. Jones-Hendrickson has been affiliated with UVI for almost four decades, first as a student, and then serving as a faculty member and professor of economics, a scholar, department chair and dean.

While the University will initiate a nationwide search for the next dean of the college, Dr. Kimarie Engerman will serve as interim dean, Dr. McKayle said.

Dr. Engerman is a summa cum laude graduate of Bowie State University in Maryland, with a bachelor of science degree in psychology. She completed post-doctoral studies in engineering education at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and served as principal investigator and co-principal investigator on various grants.

Currently a Provost Fellow, Dr. Engerman provides leadership for the implementation of the Dual Enrollment Initiative between UVI and the Virgin Islands Dept. of Education, according to a press release issued by the university. She also heads up the creation of a university-wide advising plan, and a junior faculty mentoring plan. Through a recent National Science Foundation fellowship, Dr. Engerman completed a post-graduate certificate program in academic leadership from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
