The Virgin Islands Fire Service on Thursday advised the general public that a burn ban is currently in effect throughout the territory.

The ban, which prohibits all outdoor burning, has been issued by V.I. Fire Service Director Nominee Daryl A. George due to dry weather conditions, which have increased the risk for brush fires.

All burn permits previously issued are hereby revoked, the release said.

For additional information, residents and businesses may contact the Arson Investigation and Prevention Units (Prevention Units) in their respective district.
