Iran’s president announced a shift in Tehran’s military posture toward Gulf nations on March 7, saying Iran would stop attacking neighboring countries unless strikes against Iran originate from their territory, as fighting between Iranian forces and the United States continued to intensify across the region.
President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran would cease attacks on Gulf countries unless provoked, while also issuing an apology for earlier strikes that hit regional neighbors during the escalating conflict.
The statement followed a week of heavy fighting in which Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones targeting U.S. military infrastructure and strategic assets across the Middle East. According to reports, Iranian attacks were aimed at dismantling U.S. bases, surveillance systems, and high-value military equipment.
Among the targets was a THAAD missile defense radar system in Jordan valued at approximately $300 million.
The THAAD system is considered difficult to replace due to its cost and production limits. Each interceptor missile costs more than $12.8 million, while U.S. defense contractors produce only about 96 units per year.
Trump demands Iran's surrender
President Donald Trump issued a direct ultimatum to Tehran in a March 6 post on Truth Social, declaring that there would be “no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER.”
The president also said the United States would assist in rebuilding Iran after the war under new leadership.
Iranian officials quickly rejected the demand. President Pezeshkian dismissed the ultimatum, calling it a “dream they should take to their grave” and emphasizing that Tehran would continue to resist.
Strikes continue across the Gulf
Despite Tehran’s latest declaration regarding Gulf nations, attacks continued across the region.

Iran claimed the attacks disrupted key infrastructure, though U.S. and allied forces intercepted many incoming weapons.
U.S. strikes intensify inside Iran
At the same time, U.S. military operations inside Iran have expanded significantly.
U.S. Central Command reported that American forces have struck more than 3,000 targets across Iran since February 28.
According to the update, U.S. operations have destroyed 43 Iranian warships and reduced Iranian ballistic missile launches by approximately 90 percent.
Cuba emerges in new geopolitical tension
Meanwhile, the Trump administration is also increasing pressure on Cuba.
Officials are seeking to designate the island for potential military action, with the president discussing the possibility of what he described as a “friendly takeover” amid rising tensions with Havana.
The move comes as Washington continues to apply sanctions and issue warnings related to Cuba’s international alliances.
