Tropical Storm Philippe is forecasted to remain well east of the local islands, according to the latest briefing at 11:00 a.m. today from the National Weather Service in San Juan, Puerto Rico. No direct impacts are anticipated over Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Tropical Storm Philippe is set to steer clear of populated areas, maintaining its trajectory over the open Atlantic waters. Despite no direct threats, the system may indirectly lead to localized showers, isolated thunderstorms, and create hazardous marine conditions.
Forecasters hold a moderate level of confidence that the current storm forecast will remain consistent throughout the weekend. Weather patterns influenced by the storm might produce minor accumulations across the northern U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as north and east Puerto Rico. Higher rainfall amounts could be observed in the southwestern corner of Puerto Rico, particularly during afternoon hours. This is attributed to diurnal heating and local effects.
There is also a cautionary note on potential hazardous marine conditions and dangerous surf across the Atlantic waters and shorelines. Residents and tourists are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and take necessary precautions.
