The V.I. Police Department's Criminal Investigation Bureau and Forensic/Identification Unit have issued a missing person alert for 38-year-old Megan Smith, also known by the alias Sarah. The notice was posted on August 20.
Megan Smith was born on November 4, 1984, in Monmouth, Illinois. She is a Caucasian female, stands at 5’4”, weighs 105 pounds, and has blonde hair and blue eyes. Smith has distinct tattoos—a butterfly with brass knuckles on its wings located on her back, and multiple stars on her left shoulder. She has a light complexion.
Smith was last known to frequent areas such as Jah Yard in St. Thomas and Union Mt. Washington in St. Croix. She left St. Croix sometime in July 2023 to go to St. Thomas and was supposed to return to St. Croix on August 2, 2023. However, she has not been seen or heard from since.
Unusual Communication
Adding to the concern, family members received a blank text message from Smith on August 9, 2023. Since then, they have not had any further communication with her. The type of clothing she was last seen wearing is unknown.
The VIPD is urging anyone who has seen Megan Smith or has information regarding her whereabouts to call 340-773-2530. Individuals can also provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or call 911.
The situation is particularly distressing for Smith's family, who are desperately seeking any information that could lead to her safe return. Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any details, no matter how minor they may seem, in hopes that they may assist in locating Ms. Smith.
