WAPA Implements Rotational Power Schedule for St. Thomas-St. John District Due to Reduced Generation Capacity

Due to reduced generation capacity at the Randolph Harley Power Plant, WAPA has implemented a rotational outage schedule for the St. Thomas-St. John district. Power interruptions will occur in designated areas from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Water and Power Authority has announced a rotational power outage schedule for the St. Thomas-St. John district due to reduced generation capacity at the Randolph Harley Power Plant.

The schedule, which took effect on March 5, 2025, is subject to change based on demand levels, and power restoration may be delayed by up to 15 minutes in some areas.The Consortium received WAPA’s public service announcement at 6:47 p.m. today.

According to WAPA, the following feeders will be affected:

  • 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Feeders 9E, 7A, and 6A will experience outages. If additional reductions are needed, Feeder 7E may also be included.
  • 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Feeders 9C, 6B, 10B, and 7B will be impacted. If necessary, Feeder 8A may also be affected.
  • 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. – Feeders 7C, 7E, and 8B will undergo scheduled power interruptions.

WAPA advises residents to remain aware that changes may occur based on demand, and the restoration of power could be delayed slightly beyond the scheduled timeframe.
