The V.I. Water and Power has announced a new round of rolling blackouts due to low diesel inventory in the St. Thomas-St. John District. The power rotations, which began on Tuesday night, are set to continue from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily until 4:00 a.m. Saturday.
According to WAPA, the scheduled outages are necessary as the authority works through ongoing fuel supply challenges. The power outages will affect different feeders during the designated time slots throughout the week.
Power Rotation Schedule:
Tuesday:
- 10:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.: Feeders 9C, 9E, 8A, 7A, 8B, 6A
- 12:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.: Feeders 7C, 10B, 7E, 6B, 7B, 9B, 5A
- 2:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m.: Feeders 9C, 9E, 8A
Wednesday:
- 10:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.: Feeders 9C, 9E, 8A, 7A, 8B, 6A
- 12:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.: Feeders 7C, 10B, 7E, 6B, 7B, 9B, 5A
- 2:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m.: Feeders 8A, 7A, 8B, 6A
Thursday:
- 10:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.: Feeders 7C, 10B, 6B, 7B, 9B, 5A, 9E
- 12:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.: Feeders 9C, 8A, 7A, 8B, 6A, 7E
- 2:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m.: Feeders 7C, 10B, 6B, 7B
Friday:
- 10:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.: Feeders 7C, 10B, 6B, 7B, 9B, 5A, 9E
- 12:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m.: Feeders 9C, 7A, 8B, 6A, 7E
- 2:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m.: Feeders 6B, 7B, 9B, 5A, 9E
WAPA has also asked residents to voluntarily reduce their electricity usage in order to ease the strain on the grid during this period.
For those unsure of which feeder their property is connected to, WAPA recommends checking the designated document to verify feeder information.
As of now, WAPA has not indicated when the fuel supply challenges will be fully resolved.
