ST. CROIX — WAPA executives participated in a call-in press briefing with the media at 5pm Sunday to explain why the island of St. Croix had experienced back-to-back island-wide power outages Saturday and Sunday. And while the authority said it had rectified the issue and customers would not see a repeat of the blackouts — at least not soon — customers on the west end of St. Croix will see one more interruption, beginning at 11:00 p.m. tonight, to allow WAPA linemen to normalize operations.

"Customs on St. Croix feeders 8B, 9B and 10B will experience electrical service interruption of approximately 45 minutes in duration beginning at 11:00 p.m.," the authority said. All the aforementioned feeders are on the west end of St. Croix.

"The outage is necessary to allow line personnel to normalize operations at the [Gregory] Willocks Electrical Substation on St. Croix," WAPA said.
