Even as WAPA grapples with the fallout from its Christmas party scheduled for Dec. 17, St. Croix suffered yet another island wide blackout which WAPA blamed on loss of generation capacity. "Please be advised of a major electrical service interruption affecting all customers in the St. Croix district following the loss of generation capacity at the Estate Richmond Power Plant," WAPA said. "Plant personnel are actively working to restore service to all feeders as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience."

The outage affected several activities on St. Croix, including a pageant event that was taking place at the John H. Woodson Junior High School. Power was restored about 20 minutes later.
