ST. THOMAS/ST. JOHN — The V.I. Water and Power Authority has issued a rotational outage schedule running through midnight after fuel transportation delays reduced generation capacity in the St. Thomas-St. John District.

The schedule began at 8:00 a.m. today and divides affected feeders into two-hour outage periods. WAPA cautioned that the timetable could change depending on electricity demand.

Before releasing the schedule, the authority reported that planned work that began at approximately 11:00 p.m. was expected to conclude soon. WAPA said, however, that transportation delays had left the utility with low fuel and reduced generation capacity.

The authority said its fuel vendor was working urgently to resolve the transportation problem.
