Elena Christian Junior High School teachers, taking a job action on their lunch break near the Gas City Service Station in La Grand Princesse on Thursday, got a pleasant surprise when the man with the power to elevate their salaries stopped by to explain the government's position.
Governor Kenneth Mapp -- coming from a press conference held at the National Guard Armory moments earlier -- took some time out to address the educators' concerns, knowing that teachers, a wide voting bloc, could sink his chances of reelection come November 6.
