USVI Students To Travel To Washington As Part Of $1 Million 'Close Up Insular Areas' Program

U.S. Department of the Interior Assistant Secretary of Insular and International Affairs, Doug Domenech, has announced the authorization of a payment of $1 million to fund the FY 2019 Close Up Insular Areas Program. This year’s program will bring approximately 180 high school-aged students to Washington, D.C. from the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands —as well as the freely associated states of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau—for civic education programs alongside their peers from the 50 states.
