ST. THOMAS -- An auto collision in Raphune Hill here left multiple passengers injured on Thursday at about 4:08 p.m., VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced late Friday.
According to Jackson, a preliminary investigation revealed that the safari bus was traveling downhill in the area of the Wheatley Shopping Center. The operator of the vehicle lost control and veered towards the left and collided into a utility pole, causing several passengers to be thrown forward.
Those injured where transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital by ambulance, police unit, and personal vehicles for observation and treatment.
The driver of the safari bus, Myron Donovan, was found to be negligent for operating defective equipment and failure to operate his vehicle in a safe and prudent manner, after an inspection of the vehicle’s brakes found them to be inoperable.
