Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett is inviting the general public to a ceremonial swearing-in and reception Monday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. at the District Courthouse in Estate Golden Rock on St. Croix. The congresswoman will also hold a Service of Blessing at 11 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 1 at the Frederik Lutheran Church in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.

The ceremonial swearing-in is intended to give residents who may have been unable to view Plaskett's official swearing-in on Jan. 6 in Washington, D.C. an opportunity to do so locally, the congresswoman said.

"I represent the interests of our territory in Washington, and so it's only appropriate that I take the oath in both places. I work for the people of the Virgin Islands and therefore I wanted Virgin Islanders back home to be a part of the swearing in ceremony," Plaskett said.

District Court Chief Justice Wilma A. Lewis will administer the ceremonial oath.

The general public is invited to attend both events.
