ST. THOMAS -- A man who may have been shot early Wednesday morning refused to cooperate with VIPD officers who responded to a call at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital concerning a gunshot victim, Kevin Jackson, VIPD's public information officer announced via press release on Thursday.
According to Mr. Jackson, at about 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, officers received notification of a victim being treated at the hospital for a gunshot wound. Upon meeting with the victim, a 34-year-old male, officers said he proved to be uncooperative in describing what had occurred. Police say the victim may have been involved in a separate incident that occurred in the Tutu Highrise Housing Community earlier that morning, where the discharge of gunfire was reported.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound in the buttocks and remained uncooperative, according to police.
The VIPD is asking anyone with information concerning these incidents to call the Major Crimes Unit at 340-642-8449, 911 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
