Man Dies While Performing Landscaping Job, Police Say

ST. THOMAS -- A man died while performing a landscaping job in St. Thomas late Wednesday afternoon, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

Mr. Dratte said that at approximately 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday, units from the Richard N. Callwood Command along with units from the Criminal Investigation Bureau traveled to Agnes Fancy relative to an unresponsive male.

Upon arrival, officers observed an Caucasian male lying on his back in the yard. The male’s co-worker stated that they were on the job doing landscaping and that while he was cutting grass, his co-worker, who was standing near a truck, suddenly fell to the ground, prompting him to call 911 for help, according to Mr. Dratte.

Emergency medical technicians traveled to the scene, performed CPR on the victim, but after a while concluded that there were no vital signs, Mr. Dratte said.

The victim was identified as Joseph E. Quetel, 56.
