ST. CROIX -- A woman caught growing 200 plants of marijuana in her Frederiksted backyard pleaded guilty in federal court on Thursday on one count of manufacturing marijuana, U.S. Attorney Ronald W. Sharpe has made known.
Gail Leung, 57, faces five years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
According to the plea agreement filed with the court, on May 28, 2014, Leung knowingly and intentionally grew marijuana on her property in Frederiksted.
Law enforcement agents discovered a total of 200 marijuana plants growing on Leung’s property.
As part of her plea agreement, Leung also agreed to forfeit $3,000 to the United States. A sentencing date has been set for October 14, 2015.
This case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rhonda Williams-Henry
