33rd Legislature To Take Oath Of Office On January 14

On January 14 senators elected to the 33rd Legislature will take the oath of office at the Emancipation Garden in St. Thomas beginning at 10:00 a.m., a release issued Tuesday has made known.

Following the ceremony, the organization of the body will take place at approximately 12 noon in the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Hall, followed by a meet and greet in the Legislature’s Court Yard, the release said.

The Sunday before the oath of office is taken, members of the 33rd Legislature will be participating in an Ecumenical Service on Sunday on the island of St. John at the St. Ursula’s Episcopal Church, Cruz Bay, beginning at 3:00 p.m. A meet and greet will follow at the St. John Legislative Annex, the release said.

On January 16, the elected senators will be participating in an Ecumenical Service on the island of St. Croix, scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Friedensberg Moravian Church, Frederiksted. A meet and greet is scheduled shortly after, to be held at Fort Frederik, Frederiksted.
