The Virgin Islands Port Authority has completed the first stage of transforming the Gallows Bay Marine Facility into a world-class luxury port for mini-cruise ships, yachts, and other private vessels and passenger ferries. The new facility is expected to stimulate economic activity in downtown Christiansted, St. Croix.  VIPA plans to shift all cargo activities currently handled in Gallows Bay to the Gordon A. Finch Molasses Pier in Krause Lagoon, St. Croix. The Welcome Center was built by GEC, LLC and cost $1.5 million, funded via VIPA’s 2014 marine revenue bond financing.
