Participation of Virgin Islands in Biden's Virtual Inaugural Parade to Include Baton Twirlers, Street Parade, Steel Drum and More

Delegate to Congress Stacey Plaskett and the Presidential Inaugural Committee on Monday announced participants in a virtual ‘Parade Across America’ set for January 20 at 3:15 p.m. ET. The parade, which is said to feature "diverse, dynamic performances in communities in all 50 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands," will celebrate America’s heroes and highlight the diversity, heritage, and resilience of the country, according to a release issued by Ms. Plaskett's office.

“I want to thank Governor Albert Bryan, Commissioner of Tourism Joseph Boschulte and Assistant Director of the Division of Festivals Shamari Haynes, along with the participants from the Virgin Islands for working so diligently with my office to make this historic event an even more meaningful one," said Ms. Plaskett. "As a nation, we are strengthened by our respect for one another. By lifting up voices from all walks of life, in every corner of our country, and with the help of the Virgin Islands, the first moments of the Biden-Harris Administration will be a celebration of an inclusive, resilient and united America."

President-elect Joe Biden will be the U.S.'s 46th president. Mr. Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will receive a presidential escort from 15th Street, Washington, D.C. to the White House Wednesday following the inaugural ceremonies and a visit to the Arlington National Cemetery. Along with the drumlines, the escort will include representatives of every branch of the military, including the U.S. Army Band, a Joint Service Honor Guard, and the Commander-in-Chief’s Guard and Fife and Drum Corps from the 3rd U.S. Infantry ‘The Old Guard.’

The parade will also feature performers and speakers in communities across the country. The USVI will represent with baton twirlers, dancers, steel drums and a street parade, Ms. Plaskett's office said.

The event will be live-streamed at the Biden Inaugural website, starting at 3:15 PM ET/ 4:15 PM AST on January 20, and on the inaugural committee's social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Twitch. The inaugural commitee's streaming partners, including Amazon Prime Video, Microsoft Bing, NewsNOW from Fox, and AT&T U-verse (Channel 212/1212 in SD/HD) and DIRECTV (Channel 201), will also carry the program live.
