The V.I. Port Authority is advising travelers to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled departure at both Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) on St. Croix and Cyril E. King Airport (STT) on St. Thomas. The recommendation comes in response to a surge in air travel, which has led to longer security screening times, particularly at the St. Croix airport.

According to VIPA, peak travel periods—such as weekends and holidays—see an especially high volume of passengers, exacerbating delays at security checkpoints. Travelers are encouraged to factor in additional time to complete check-in and security procedures to ensure a smooth departure process.

VIPA said it continues to monitor passenger traffic and is working to mitigate congestion where possible. However, due to the increase in travelers, the agency strongly recommends that all passengers plan accordingly and allow ample time to navigate through the airport before their flights.
