ST. THOMAS — A St.Thomas man succumbed to his wounds about being struck be a vehicle Friday night, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

Mr. Derima said that on Friday at approximately 8:29 p.m., a dark-colored vehicle traveling west on the Moravian Highway in the vicinity of the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency headquarters, struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway heading north.

The pedestrian, identified by next of kin as 55-year-old Rodney Malone, was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance, but succumbed to the injuries sustained during the accident. 

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene after the accident, the V.I. Police Department said. 

The incident is under investigation by the V.I.P.D.'s Traffic Investigation Bureau.
