Southwest Airlines will launch nonstop service between Nashville International Airport and Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas beginning March 13, 2027, adding another mainland gateway to the territory’s expanding airlift network.
The new Nashville-St. Thomas route will operate on Saturdays, providing travelers from Nashville, Tennessee, and communities throughout the broader Southeast with a nonstop option to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The V.I. Department of Tourism said the route adds to its efforts to expand airlift from emerging and high-value mainland markets while further diversifying the destinations from which travelers can reach the territory directly.
“We are thrilled to welcome Southwest Airlines’ announcement of new nonstop service from Nashville to St. Thomas,” said Commissioner Jennifer Matarangas-King. “This route gives travelers across Nashville and the broader Southeast a more convenient way to experience the U.S. Virgin Islands while opening the door to a market with significant growth potential. Strong, reliable airlift is fundamental to the continued growth of our tourism economy, and we are proud to welcome Southwest’s continued investment in connecting more travelers with our islands.”
Southwest Continues St. Thomas Expansion
The Nashville route represents another expansion of Southwest’s presence in the Virgin Islands following the airline’s launch of service to St. Thomas in February 2026.
Southwest currently connects St. Thomas with Orlando and Baltimore/Washington.
The addition of Nashville will broaden the territory’s mainland network and provide another direct connection for travelers interested in visiting the Virgin Islands.
The Department of Tourism said the route creates additional opportunities to attract visitors seeking the territory’s Caribbean culture, natural scenery, beaches and hospitality.
U.S. citizens traveling to the U.S. Virgin Islands do not need a passport.
