ST. CROIX — Fly the Whale has announced the introduction of new daily flights connecting St. Croix’s Henry A. Rohlsen Airport with Puerto Rico’s San Juan Isla Grande Airport (SIG), starting from March 15th. The Carrier said the service aims to provide vital links for business, medical, and leisure travelers, offering up to three round-trip flights each day.

David Ziemer, chief operating officer of Fly the Whale, highlighted the demand for this service among their clientele, emphasizing Isla Grande's convenience and reliability as key factors in selecting the new route. Isla Grande Airport's proximity to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport also facilitates easier connections for travelers heading to the mainland or international destinations.

Since initiating operations between St. Croix and St. Thomas in April 2023, Fly the Whale said it has successfully transported over ten thousand passengers, offering nine round trips per day. The expansion to include flights from St. Croix to San Juan is anticipated to further simplify travel to Puerto Rico, offering an attractive alternative to the complications of larger airports. Flight costs will be as low as $125 one way, with tickets edging higher depending on demand.

Omer ErSelcuk, president of Fly the Whale, expressed enthusiasm for the new service, highlighting its potential to streamline travel for frequent business visitors, residents seeking medical care, and tourists exploring the beauty of Puerto Rico and St. Croix.

Fly the Whale revealed that it has partnered with Vieques Air Link for ground handling at Isla Grande Airport and for reservation sales. Vieques Air Link, a longstanding carrier since 1965, is known for its reliability and operates over 50 flights daily across Puerto Rico and to Vieques and Culebra, in addition to offering customized charter services to the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, according to the release.

Dedicated to enhancing the travel experience, Fly the Whale  said it prioritizes safety, reliability, friendly service, and comfort for its passengers. Based in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the airline contributes to local economic growth by making travel more accessible and enjoyable.

Pre-booking for the new San Juan Isla Grande flights is currently available on the airline's website, with operations set to begin on March 15, 2024. Fly the Whale, established in 2006, provides scheduled and on-demand charter services in New York City, the Northeast, Florida, and The Bahamas. Operating with an ARGUS GOLD rating, Fly the Whale continues to define its identity through safety, service, and style.
