Fly The Whale has issued a statement addressing customer concerns following three incidents of blown tires at Cyril E. King Airport between November 2024 and February 2025. The airline reassured passengers that safety remains its top priority and that proactive measures are being taken to prevent further occurrences.

In a statement dated February 15, Fly The Whale acknowledged the recent tire issues but emphasized that such occurrences are not unique to the airline. The company highlighted that with nearly 24,000 operations since launching service, its overall record with tire-related issues remains strong.

Fly The Whale affirmed that its aircraft tires are regularly replaced due to normal wear and tear and undergo multiple daily inspections. The airline also assured customers that each tire issue is immediately reported to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and that aircraft are not returned to service until all necessary safety protocols are met.

Additionally, Fly The Whale stated that an internal review identified the current tire model and size as potential contributing factors to the repeated failures. As a result, the airline will be switching to a different tire model and size that is better suited to existing runway conditions at Cyril E. King Airport.

Fly The Whale reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and service reliability. The airline said its Virgin Islands-based team continues to work diligently to provide safe, friendly, and convenient air travel.

Customers with concerns regarding the recent incidents or any operational matters are encouraged to contact Fly The Whale directly for further clarification.
