St. Croix’s skies are ablaze with adrenaline-fueled action as STX BOOGIE, an international skydiving event, welcomes some of the world’s most elite skydivers. The event, taking place in February 2025, features Red Bull athletes, world record holders, reigning champions, and top extreme sports professionals, all converging on the island for a spectacular week of skydiving over the Caribbean’s breathtaking landscapes.
For the first time ever, St. Croix is hosting an event of this magnitude, with skydivers executing precision landings at Leatherback Brewing Company’s drop zone and select beaches around the island. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to look up and witness highly skilled professionals performing breathtaking aerial maneuvers and landings.
As part of the festivities, Wednesday, February 19th has been designated as STX BOOGIE Public Appreciation Day at Leatherback Brewing Company. Spectators are invited to experience the thrill of professional skydiving up close throughout the day.
The evening’s celebrations will include live music by CALICHE and a fire-dancing performance by PURAFIRE, making it a once-in-a-lifetime experience to enjoy both world-class skydiving and cultural entertainment at one of St. Croix’s most popular venues.
While the first scheduled jumps on Sunday were postponed due to high winds, the skydivers took the opportunity to immerse themselves in Crucian culture. Event Director Fiona Horne ensured the group had an authentic local experience, including a visit to Dominos to see the famous beer-drinking pigs, a sunset cruise with Big Beard’s Adventure Tours, and an evening of island cuisine at Shupe’s on the Boardwalk.
The official Welcome Dinner on Saturday, February 15th, hosted at Hotel on the Cay, was a vibrant cultural celebration. The evening featured performances by Mocko Jumbies and steel pan musicians, as well as a spread of traditional Virgin Islands dishes prepared by local chef Simba. Deputy Commissioner of Tourism Shamari Haynes personally welcomed the skydivers, expressing confidence that this event would lead to future visits and further international exposure for St. Croix.
The event was organized by Fyre Parachute, an international skydiving event company known for hosting Boogies—gatherings of skydivers in exotic destinations. Past events have taken place in the Maldives, Venezuela, the Bahamas, and Egypt, attracting elite skydivers from across the world.
Local pilot and skydiver Fiona Horne played a pivotal role in bringing STX BOOGIE to St. Croix. “I met the organizers in Egypt while jumping over the pyramids, and when they said they were looking for a hidden paradise, I told them, ‘You have to come to St. Croix!’ From 12,500 feet, the island is a stunning green gem in a turquoise sea, but what makes it special is its culture and community.”
The skydiving action is set to continue Monday through Wednesday, with skydivers taking to the skies for precision landings at Leatherback Brewing Company and selected beaches. Residents and visitors are encouraged to watch the skies and experience this high-energy event firsthand.
For thrill-seekers, there are still limited tandem skydive spots available for Wednesday, February 19th. Monday and Tuesday tandem jumps are fully booked, but Wednesday slots remain open.
