Current Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte
The West Indian Company board, during a meeting on Friday, selected Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte as the next head of WICO. The decision follows exclusive Consortium reporting a week earlier that Boschulte was the frontrunner for the position of president and CEO of the autonomous government entity.

With less than two years remaining in the Bryan administration, Boschulte has been weighing his next career move. His appointment to WICO—a government-owned entity he previously led—presents an ideal transition.
As he prepares to step away from the V.I. Department of Tourism, speculation is growing over who will be appointed as his successor. Sources have told the Consortium that former DOT Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty has been considered for the role. However, new discussions have emerged in favor of Alani Henneman, the assistant commissioner who has played a key role in the department’s efforts to expand the territory’s tourism industry.
Governor Albert Bryan told the Consortium following Boschulte’s selection that while he has candidates in mind, no final decision has been made. "I haven't chosen anyone for that position. I will make some assessments and pick somebody," Bryan said on Friday. The governor, who regards Boschulte as one of the administration's top commissioners, acknowledged that his departure would leave a "hole" in the administration. However, he also noted that while WICO has chosen Boschulte, the longtime tourism leader must still accept the offer.

Calls placed to Mr. Boschulte for comment were not immediately returned.
