The V.I. Department of Tourism is actively seeking vibrant and personable locals to serve as hospitality greeters and entertainers at the Territory’s airports and cruise ports. The newly launched recruitment initiative is designed to ensure that every visitor arriving in the U.S. Virgin Islands is welcomed with warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine taste of local culture.
Commissioner Nominee Jennifer Matarangas-King emphasized the critical role these ambassadors will play in enhancing the overall visitor experience. “Our people are the heart of the U.S. Virgin Islands, and this is an opportunity to showcase that warmth, pride, and hospitality to every guest who steps onto our shores,” she said. “From the very first smile to the moment they begin exploring, these ambassadors will help shape memories that last a lifetime.”
Applicants for the greeter and entertainer positions must be at least 18 years old, possess a strong familiarity with the Virgin Islands, and demonstrate a clear passion for hospitality. Additional requirements include a flexible schedule, a valid business license, and proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. Bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
This effort is part of the Department’s broader push to make a lasting impression on guests from the moment they arrive, blending informative support with cultural pride through music, conversation, and local flair.
