The MV Evrima, a luxury cruise ship owned by Ritz Carlton, made its first visit to Frederiksted, St. Croix, docking at the Ann E. Abramson Marine Facility yesterday.

In celebration of the ship's arrival, officials from the Virgin Islands Port Authority and the V.I. Department of Tourism held a plaque and keys exchange ceremony onboard to welcome Captain Stanislav Mykhailychenko, his crew, and guests to St. Croix. The ship carried 271 passengers and 250 crew members during its 15-hour stay, arriving at 8 a.m. and departing at 11 p.m.
VIPA Executive Director Carlton Dowe expressed satisfaction with the visit and shared plans to encourage more luxury ships to visit the U.S. Virgin Islands, especially St. Croix. He noted that seven new smaller cruise vessels are expected to launch next year, and VIPA will continue discussions with cruise officials to attract these ships to the region.

The 623-feet long (190m) MV Evrima, built in 2022 and weighing 25,400 gross tons, boasts a sleek yacht exterior and an interior adorned with exclusive art pieces and furnishings. Capable of accommodating up to 298 guests, the Evrima offers a more intimate, high-end cruising experience. Ritz Carlton has announced plans to add two more ships to its fleet of luxury cruise vessels, following the success of the Evrima.
