Governor Bryan to Join Royal Caribbean’s ‘Utopia of the Seas’ Inaugural Cruise

Royal Caribbean's Utopia of the Seas

Governor Albert Bryan Jr. is currently participating in the inaugural sail of Royal Caribbean International’s latest vessel, Utopia of the Seas, which embarked from Port Canaveral, Florida, Government House announced Monday. The administration said Mr. Bryan's participation is aimed at fostering economic opportunities for the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The governor, who left the territory last week, will be out until July 21, according to Gov't House. The cruise includes key meetings aimed at bolstering the territory’s tourism sector, with Mr. Bryan's itinerary featuring discussions with notable figures such as the St. Maarten Minister of Tourism Grisha Heyliger-Marten, and executives from the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association, Adam Ceserano and Michele Paige. These engagements are focused on enhancing cruise tourism, upgrading infrastructure for larger vessels, and amplifying the economic benefits for local businesses from cruise tourism, according to the administration.

 

Royal Caribbean describes the inaugural trip of their newest ship as the ultimate party getaway, promising an abundance of activities. Vacationers can look forward to over 40 dining, drinking, and party options, numerous pools, and a variety of thrilling and relaxing activities. The cruise will also feature visits to the cruise line’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay. The cruise ship will set sail in three days, according to a countdown ticker on cruise ship's page on Royal Caribbean's official website.

Expressing his objectives for the trip, Mr. Bryan stated, "This is a significant event for the cruise industry and an excellent opportunity to showcase the U.S. Virgin Islands as a premier destination. My meetings with Minister Heyliger-Marten and the leaders of the FCCA will be pivotal in forging stronger partnerships and securing new opportunities for our territory."

In his absence, Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach will serve as the Acting Governor.

The governor's office said it will keeping the public informed about the progress of these discussions and any new initiatives that may arise from this important trip, promising tangible benefits for the residents of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
