ST. THOMAS -- The Department of Tourism (D.O.T.) will host the Frederiksted Food Truck Festival on Friday, featuring sumptuous culinary delights from more than 10 food operators as well as a performance from the acclaimed Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights.
The festival, which had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather earlier in the month, will be held at the Frederiksted Waterfront in partnership with the Frederiksted Economic Development Association's (F.E.D.A.) Sunset Jazz from 6 to 10 p.m.
D.O.T. is also organizing a territory-wide clean-up campaign to motivate Virgin Islanders help to keep the islands clean, attractive and safe, according to the release.
The clean-up, scheduled for 7 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, along with Friday's festival, are among many activities the Department is sponsoring during National Tourism Month.
"Cleaning up our islands, and maintaining this cleanliness, demonstrates the strong pride that exists within our community," said D.O.T. Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty.
"We are asking residents to come out and support this initiative to help keep our islands clean for everyone to enjoy," she added.
Volunteers should come dressed in long pants and closed-toe shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen and gloves. T-Shirts and water will be supplied to all volunteers. Minimum age to participate is 14 years accompanied by an adult. For students, this event counts toward community service hours.
