ST. THOMAS, USVI — Hilton has officially opened the Hampton by Hilton St. Thomas, marking the company latest project in the U.S. Virgin Islands and introducing the territory’s first select-service hotel tailored to both business and leisure travelers. The 126-room property sits directly across from Havensight Mall, positioning it in one of St. Thomas’s busiest commercial areas.
Hilton’s vice president of development for the Caribbean and Latin America, Pablo Maturana, said the company sees “great potential in the U.S. Virgin Islands as both a business and leisure destination.” He emphasized that bringing Hampton by Hilton to St. Thomas will help meet growing demand for reliable, high-quality accommodations, while also delivering local benefits through job creation, educational support, and community partnerships.

The hotel, owned by Haven Development and managed by Hotel Equities, is expected to be a long-term contributor to the territory’s economy. Haven Development has pledged annual donations to several St. Thomas nonprofits and will support public education with contributions to the Virgin Islands Department of Education. Its location beside the West Indian Companies (WICO) cruise ship port and Havensight Mall is anticipated to boost foot traffic to nearby restaurants, retailers, and tour operators, supporting small business growth.
General Manager Jim Swaim noted that Hampton by Hilton St. Thomas “is filling a long-standing gap in the local hospitality market,” offering the reliability of the Hilton brand to both corporate and leisure travelers, while creating jobs and investing in the community.
The hotel’s modern coastal design features Caribbean blues and teals and includes a 3,800-square-foot patio, a 2,000-square-foot pool deck, 850 square feet of conference space, a fitness center, and a full-service harbor-view bar and lounge called The Helm, which is open to the public. Guests will also enjoy Hampton’s complimentary hot breakfast, including its signature waffles.
Located 4.1 miles from Cyril E. King Airport and 1.5 miles from downtown Charlotte Amalie, the property sources from local vendors, showcasing art by Ama Dennis of The Creative Native and serving beverages from Leatherback Brewing Company, cocktails made with Mutiny Island Vodka and Cruzan Rum, drinking water from Soca Shores, and ice cream from Pure Imagination Creations.
Hampton by Hilton St. Thomas is part of Hilton Honors, the company’s guest loyalty program. The opening expands Hilton’s Caribbean portfolio, which now includes nearly 50 properties in operation and more than 25 in development.
