Timeless: A Virgin Islands Love Story feature displaly as seen on Amazon.

After its 2015 world premiere before a sold-out audience on St. Thomas, “Timeless: A Virgin Islands Love Story,” has now been picked up by a major streaming service.

The feature-length film is now available to watch on Amazon Prime – less than a month ahead of the Sept. 6 anniversary of Hurricane Irma's impact on the Virgin Islands. The storm's destructive force on St. Thomas and St. John had a profound effect on the film’s writer, producer, and director, Edward La Borde, Jr.

Entirely produced and shot in the Virgin Islands, Timeless highlights the local talent and skill both in front of and behind the camera. With a cast that includes K’misha-Victoria Counts, Brummell Germain, Monai Greene, and Julien Baa, among others, the movie was shot over three years, across 26 locations in the territory.

The film features various aspects of Virgin Islands culture, with Carnival as a key element. Locations such as the Whim Museum on St. Croix and the Legislature Building on the Charlotte Amalie waterfront add to the narrative's depth.

As writer and director Edward LaBorde Jr. explains, “The story started with visions of life in Africa in the 1800s, the true history of slavery, and a slave girl running from the storm. Then I became passionate about telling a love story between a regular guy and a girl who felt ashamed of her circumstances.”

From those beginnings, Mr. LaBorde then crafted a tale of two love stories, set in different time frames but connected in theme. The plot follows a Ghanaian warrior who loses her soulmate to the slave trade and the souls’ eventual reunion in the present time as two characters living in the USVI. Their relationship evolves further with the introduction of a love triangle involving an undocumented immigrant from the Dominican Republic.

The compelling story and lush tropical setting of the movie caught the attention of D’Wayne Wiggings, multi-platinum recording artist, music producer, and founding member of Tony! Toni! Toné! He contributed to the film's soundtrack, including an original song titled “Can’t Fight the Feeling”, and assisted in securing distribution through Amazon Prime Video, in association with Oakland Film and TV.

Dept. of Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte voiced the thoughts of many Virgin Islanders when he commented on the film: “We are pleased to see the Virgin Islands showcased in this production. ‘Timeless’ reflects our islands’ history, culture, and natural beauty, and we look forward to sharing this story with the world.”
