Films Produced in the USVI to Premiere at Paradise 48 Film Festival June 25

Teams that participated in the two-day Paradise 48 Film Competition will have their projects premiered at the Festival Screening and Awards Show on Saturday, June 25 at Prior Jollek Hall on the Antilles School campus, a release issued by organizers of the Paradise 48 Film Festival has made known.

The top ten films will be screened and compete for a variety of awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Actor/Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Editing & audience choice award—Paradise 48 Fan Favorite.  

The cocktail reception begins at 6:00 p.m. with the red carpet pre-show hosted by Kia and Andre of WTJX’s The Welcome Mat. A concession and cash bar will be available for purchase. Vivid Streaming’s Rashidi will host the screening and showtime begins at 8:00 p.m.  

Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite. General admission is $35, and VIP is $50. The screening will also be broadcasted live online and tickets can be purchased for $10 here. 

According to the release, this past weekend, June 17-19, teams produced an original short film, incorporating hidden elements that were revealed at the kickoff event Friday evening. The four required elements were a character; prop; line of dialogue; and a famous landmark. 

Prizes include a BVI Film Trip (accommodations and activities), membership on Skillshare, a B&H gift card, Final Draft Software, professional headshots, a festival trophy, and grand cash prizes totaling $5,000. 

The Paradise 48 Film Festival is presented by XR Entertainment in partnership with the USVI Film Office, the Economic Development Authority, and the BVI Film Commission.
