Mapp Announces Appointment Of Peter Schultz As Acting V.I.N.G.N. CEO Following Coverdale's Resignation

ST. THOMAS -- Governor Kenneth Mapp, chairman of the Virgin Islands Next Generation Network (V.I.N.G.N.), announced late Thursday through a Government House press release the resignation of Dr. Tonjia Coverdale, president and chief executive officer of V.I.N.G.N., which he said was effective at 5:00 p.m. today. The governor's announcement follows a Consortium story in which Dr. Coverdale confirmed her resignation. The governor said V.I.N.G.N.'s board accepted Dr. Coverdale's resignation and subsequently appointed board member Dr. Peter Schultz, above, as interim president until a permanent replacement is selected. "The board thanked Dr. Coverdale for her service and the Governor wished her well in her future endeavors," reads the release. “I resigned,” was all Dr. Coverdale told The Consortium this afternoon, following attempts by the publication to clarify rumors that she had been made redundant by the board.
