The V.I. Lottery has announced that it will reopen its offices to the public on Wednesday, January 24. This reopening follows a temporary closure due to a cybersecurity breach that impacted its operations.
Executive Director Raymond J. Williams expressed relief and satisfaction at the resumption of services. "We have been working to restore our systems to full operation and now we’re happy to notify our dealers and customers that we will open for business at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow," he stated.
The reopening will allow the continuation of ticket sales for draw number 1025, which was initially scheduled for January 18. The sales will extend until Thursday, with the drawing now set to take place on Friday, January 26. Additionally, tickets for draw number 1026 will be available for purchase starting Friday, January 26, with the drawing for this round scheduled for Thursday, February 15.
Mr. Williams extended his gratitude to the community for its support and patience during the challenging period. “We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate and migrate back to a normal course of operations,” he said.
The announcement marks a significant step towards normalizing operations for the Virgin Islands Lottery, which plays a vital role in the community's recreational and economic activities.
