Updated at 5:11 a.m. Tues. May 11: Service for Liberty Mobile USVI, formerly AT&T, has been restored after an all-day outage on St. Croix Monday. The service appeared to have been restored during the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Original Story: Liberty Mobile USVI, a division of Liberty Latin America which purchased the AT&T operations of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2020, announced Monday afternoon that the cause of an all-day service outage on St. Croix was due to one of the company's fiber cables being cut by a third-party company doing excavation work.

“We are currently dealing with a general service outage in St. Croix. We have identified a main line fiber cut as the cause. The fiber was accidentally cut by a third party doing excavation work at the site, which has affected service in St. Croix," said Liberty Mobile USVI spokesperson Catherine Kling.

"A Liberty Mobile USVI technical team and a specialized splicing crew are already at the scene working on the problem, with the cooperation of the third party. We expect to restore service later tonight, or no later than tomorrow," Ms. Kling added.

"We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and will continue providing updates via our social media channels as the work progresses," Liberty said.
