An under-16 basketball team based in St. Thomas recently traveled to Florida to participate in tournaments with the goal of securing scholarships for college. The result? A dominant performance from the Virgin Islands team, stunning opponents in the state and returning home with the championship.

The St. Thomas RAW’s under-16 boys basketball team was victorious in their championship game at the TNBA South "Chasing the Chains 2" tournament on Sunday with a score of 73-54, beating opponents Bad Boys. The game was held at the Game Point Event Center in Orlando, Florida.

Previously, the team won a division title during the 2022 TNBA South "June Jamfest" tournament in Florida.

RAW Basketball is an Authentic Amateur Union (AAU) travel team from St. Thomas that was created in February 2022. Players attend the following schools: Antilles School, Charlotte Amalie High School, and Ivanna Eudora Kean High School. The goal of this basketball team is to give local players the opportunity to be seen at the national level and acquire scholarships toward a college education.

Upcoming tournaments include the Guidance Basketball Tournament on St. Croix during the Labor Day weekend, and a tournament in Orlando, FL during the Christmas break (more information will be provided at a later date).
