Aliyah Boston
Fans of Virgin Islander Aliyah Boston can help her win the 2022 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy for Women’s Player of the Year by voting once a day online as fan voting for the award has opened.
The Player of the Year award is presented annually "to the most outstanding men’s and women’s basketball player who achieves tremendous on-court success,” according to the Naismith website.
Boston was named a finalist for the award alongside Caitlin Clark from the University of Iowa, Haley Jones from the University of Stanford and NaLyssa Smith from the University of Baylor.
Boston is the only player in the country to be in the top 30 for offensive and defensive efficiency. She is the 9th most efficient offensive player and the second most efficient defensive player, according to NCAA.com.
She has an active streak of 26 straight double-doubles, which is the longest active streak in the nation and the Southeastern Conference record for most consecutive double-doubles.
Boston has averaged 16.4 points per game and 12.1 rebounds per game this season. Her 12.1 rebounds per game is fifth-best in the country according to ESPN. Boston 2.58 blocks per game ranks her No. 10 in the country in the statistical category.
She was named the SEC Player of the Year and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
Clark averaged 27.4 points per game, 8.1 rebounds per game and 7.9 assists per game and was the Big 10 Player of the Year. She was the first female player to lead the country in both scoring and assists.
Jones was the Pac-12 Coach's Player of the Year and one of three Power 5 players to average 12.6 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game and 3.6 assists per game.
Smith averaged 22.5 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game and was the unanimous Big 12 Player of the Year. She recorded 25 double-doubles this season which is the third highest amount in the country.
Fans can vote for the Naismith Women’s National Player of the Year, the Naismith Men’s National Player of the Year, Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year and Naismith Men’s Coach of the Year once per day until 6:00 p.m EST on March 29 here.
