V.I. Olympic Committee Announces Athletes for Paris Games

Nicholas D’Amour, Eduardo Garcia, Kruz Schembri, Natalia Kuipers, and Max Willson to compete in four disciplines

The V.I. Olympic Committee has announced the athletes who will represent the territory at the Paris Olympic Games. The delegation will compete in four disciplines: Archery, Athletics, Fencing, and Swimming. 

Nicholas D’Amour will represent the Virgin Islands in Archery. He qualified for the Paris Olympics through the CAC Games 2024 and is currently ranked 11th in the world for individual archery. With a personal best ranking of 3 and a seasonal best of 10, D’Amour is set to compete on July 25.

In Athletics, Eduardo Garcia will compete in the Marathon. He qualified with a season best of 1041 and is set to race on August 10, 2024. Garcia's dedication to long-distance running has positioned him as a strong contender, and his performance will be closely watched by supporters from the Virgin Islands.

Kruz Schembri will represent the territory in Fencing, specifically in the Men’s Foil event. Schembri qualified through the Zonal Qualifiers in Costa Rica 2024, achieving a ranking of 3rd. His competition is scheduled for July 29, 2024. Schembri's skill and precision in fencing have earned him a place among the top competitors, showcasing the talent emerging from the Virgin Islands in this discipline.

In Swimming, Natalia Kuipers will compete in the 400m Freestyle. She qualified during the Spanish Trial 2024 with an entry time of 4:29.94. Kuipers' event is scheduled for July 27, 2024. 

Maximillian “Max” Willson will also represent the Virgin Islands in Swimming, competing in the 100m Freestyle. He qualified with an entry time of 55.15 during the 36th CCCAN 2024. Willson's event will take place on July 30.

The V.I. Olympic Committee, led by president Angel Morales and Secretary General John Abramson, with Desiree Miranda as Chef de Mission and Ansen Sligar as Assistant Chef de Mission, is dedicated to supporting these athletes.

The Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games is scheduled for July 26.
