Virgin Islands' own Michelle Smith, a distinguished sports ambassador, has been put forward for the prestigious Student-Athlete of the Year Award at Montverde Academy. This nomination comes on the heels of her remarkable achievements both academically and athletically, where she currently boasts an impressive Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.32.

Smith's athletic prowess was recently on full display at the Carifta Games, where she clinched double gold medals in the 400m hurdles and 800m events. Notably, her performance in the 800m established a new record for the Virgin Islands. Additionally, she is globally recognized as the leading athlete in the 400m hurdles, clocking in an impressive time of 56.06.

At Montverde Academy, Smith has left an indelible mark, holding records in both short track (indoor) events such as the 55m hurdles, 60m hurdles, 600m, and long jump, as well as outdoor events including the 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 800m, and long jump.
