St. Croix Track Club Mustangs Secure Nine Medals at Prestigious AAJI Championships in Puerto Rico

St. Croix Track Club Mustangs.

The St. Croix Track Club Mustangs on Saturday made a remarkable showing at the Association of Youth/Junior Athletics (AAJI) Track & Field Championships in Dorado, Puerto Rico, winning a total of nine medals.

The Mustangs qualified seven athletes, who competed against over a thousand athletes from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The team placed ninth out of 32 clubs based on points allocated to the top eight finishers of an event.

Safiya Prasad and Juvante Hurst earned the titles of Female and Male Most Valuable Athletes, respectively. Prasad took home gold medals in the 60m hurdles and high jump, while Hurst won gold in the 80m hurdles and bronze in high jump. Juvantia Hurst secured a silver medal in the 50m hurdles, and Faith Eatmon, Aminah Prasad, Malachi Maclorrain, and Katelyn Jones also earned medals in their respective events.

The St. Croix Track Club expressed gratitude to its supporters for helping young athletes develop their talents and hopes that their accomplishments bring pride to the Virgin Islands.
