With their almost 3-minute long presentation wowing judges and commentators, the St. Croix Educational Complex High School Cheerleading team secured 2nd place in the 2025 ICU Cheerleading World School Championships.

Sunday's competition in Orlando, Florida featured the Complex cheerleaders urging the audience to “Bet on the Barras,” performing a mix of cheers, dance moves and aerial stunts, culminating in a two-level pyramid formation.

The energetic performance earned them second place in the super-varsity non-tumbling division, as well as praises and accolades from hundreds of Virgin Islanders at home and in the diaspora.

Many commenters expressed pride in the achievements of the Complex cheerleaders, while being critical of the apparent lack of institutional support offered to the team. Those praising the cheerleaders for their winning performance also called on government officials to do more to assist students when they seek to represent the territory at national events and competitions.

The ICU Cheerleading World School Championships, hosted annually by the International Cheer Union (ICU) in Orlando, Florida, brings together top high school cheerleading teams from around the world to compete in various divisions based on skill level and performance style. The event serves as a prestigious platform for young athletes to showcase their talent on an international stage. Teams compete in categories such as tumbling, non-tumbling, co-ed, and all-girl divisions, performing high-energy routines judged on execution, creativity, and synchronization.
